Nothing makes a carnivore happier than a thick and juicy slab of prime rib. Pink from edge to edge, surrounded by crispy seasoned fat and drippings, and when done right it melts in your mouth. Most people are under the impression you can only get the best prime rib at a commercial steakhouse or celebrity chef owned restaurant. While these places are optimal their prices often are not. Mainstream and commercial restaurants have their place, but in the land of Los Angeles it’s in the lesser-known establishments where all the good stuff is. You can find anything anywhere if you know where to look. If you’re looking for prime rib, you’ll want to check out these five restaurants.

The Dresden Restaurant
1760 N. Vermont Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90027
(323) 665-4294
www.thedresden.comThe Dresden is a Hollywood landmark and one of the last remaining haunts resembling old Hollywood. With more than 60 years in business, you’d think they’d know how to do a prime rib justice. Well, they do. In fact, it has been their signature dish since they opened their doors. The prime rib and extra cut are just as famous as Marty and Elayne. Their garlic bread is also famous and the perfect side dish for anything you order.

Bandera
11700 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90025
(310) 477-3524
www.banderarestaurants.comThe only problem with going to Bandera for prime rib is that it’s so delicious they can sometimes run out. If you’ve had Bandera’s prime rib even once you’ll know it’s perfectly seasoned, perfectly roasted and perfectly sliced to make your mouth water just thinking about it. Served with tender spinach, buttery mashed potatoes or seasoned pommes, the prime rib will have you smiling for days. Should you be so unfortunate to not get any, the French dip is a very satisfying consolation prize.

Fortunately prime rib makes just as good of a sandwich as it does and entree. At Cole’s, you can get the same choice cut and mouthwatering flavor in their prime rib French dip. Get it with a side of mac & cheese to round it out, and you’ve got a meal worth the trip downtown alone.
